At Mission Studios, we offer photography, video and podcast studio hire in the North East of England with a fully equipped space designed for creators who want to learn and experiment in a real working studio.
This isn’t an empty room with a couple of lights — it’s a studio we use every day for our own work, set up and ready for you to walk in and start shooting. You’ll be working in the same space we use for our own client shoots.

Our studio isn’t just for photography either. We also have equipment available for video and podcasting, including studio lighting, wireless microphones, and a broadcast quality green screen (chromakey) setup. Whether you’re creating content, filming interviews, or experimenting with video, the space is flexible enough to support a wide range of creative projects.

A Unique Studio Space
Our studio is based in a converted church, which means one thing — height.
This gives you far more flexibility with lighting setups than most studios, making it ideal for everything from creative portrait work to top-down product photography.
The space itself is quirky, welcoming, and designed to make you feel at home — somewhere you can focus on creating without feeling like you’re in a sterile environment.
Easy to Get To And Conveniently Located
We’re based in the heart of Washington, Tyne & Wear, with easy access from across the North East.
We’re close to major road networks and sit just 17 minutes drive from Sunderland and 15 mins from Newcastle, Durham, and beyond. If you are feeling peckish we’re opposite a sandwich deli, 25 metres from the May Hong – Washington’s most famous Chinese takeaway – and 30 metres from our local shop. Great for if you need to fuel your creativity.
Does the thought of being let loose in a studio scare you slightly?
If you’re new to studio work or want to improve your results, we also offer one-to-one training and mentoring that includes access to the studio. We can help you get set up, understand the equipment and guide you through your shoot so you leave with both great images and a clear understanding of how you created them.

- £60 per hour (minimum booking 2 hours)
- £150 half day (3 hours)
- £250 full day (6 hours)

Can I hire the studio for client shoots?
Studio hire is not generally available for commercial client work. For client shoots, we offer full photography services through Mission Studios to ensure the highest quality and consistency for clients. Not sure if what you have planned qualifies as client work? Send us your ideas.

Studio hire includes access to professional strobe lighting, modifiers, a range of backdrops, and a fully equipped shooting space. We also provide a Bluetooth sound system, tea and coffee facilities, and access to additional equipment by arrangement.

No — you don’t need to be an experienced photographer. The studio is a great place to learn and practise. If you need a bit of guidance getting started, we’re happy to point you in the right direction.
