It’s been a busy wedding season shooting with my good friend Steve Atkinson at some of the North East’s most amazing wedding venues. Steve and I reckon we’ve shot around ten weddings together, as well as working with corporate clients in the North East of England. We enjoy working together so much, we figured it may be time to finally “tie the knot” ourselves and launch a new business together. We’re very different in many ways – Steve is a dog person (he has two) and I have a cat. He loves his meat and I’m a veggie. He’s a beer man and I prefer coffee. But one thing we very much agree on is our passion for taking great pictures and being people people we’ve realised we absolutely love shooting weddings.
We scoured the local area for the perfect venue for our new studio and being Washington lads we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to rent the old church in Columbia that was formerly a pilates studio. Partly because it’s an awesome building with loads of history, but also because it has a full-size mirror ideal for photographing our dance clients.
Why Mission Studios?
Having looked into the history of the building we discovered that it was the old mission to Holy Trinity church in Washington Village. That sparked an idea and Mission Studios was born. We’ve been hard at work over the last few weeks getting the branding sorted and the building ship-shape ready to launch. We like the idea of Mission for another reason too. We always make it our mission to give our clients the best possible customer experience.
What next?
We’re both really excited about the possibility of having our own studio – me especially as it’s in walking distance of my house.
As well as being a great venue to shoot in we’re also going to have the facility to make corporate videos, develop websites and deliver photographic training too.
